Nestled on the shores facing the Hebridean, Bowmore takes the art of whisky crafting to mythical heights. Unlike most distilleries, Bowmore malts its barley on-site. First, the raw barley is steeped for 27 hours in fresh pure water sourced from the nearby Loch Laggan. Then the malting process begins. As the time ripens, the kiln comes alive with a blaze, and the swirling tendrils of peat smoke ascend, resembling the very breath of a majestic dragon.
In Bowmore whiskies from the '90s, the peatiness is a delicate dance with ripe fruit, honey, and notes of chocolate or vanilla. This 25-year-old gem, in particular, carries traces of wood smoke, ash, and a subtle maritime character, evoking memories of salt and seaweed.
The ageing process sets the stage for Bowmore's distinctive flavour profile, capturing the essence of the dragon's breath. Each sip unfolds a story of mythical richness and extraordinary character. The sherry cask infuses the spirit with dried plums, figs, and a hint of dark chocolate. An enchanting alchemy that awakens your senses from slumber.

My Name Is Whisky decided to join in the festivities of the Lunar Year of the Dragon by introducing a unique limited edition whisky: Dragon.
Within the Chinese zodiac, the dragon stands alone as the only mythical creature. These fascinating creatures carry profound symbolism in traditional Chinese culture, embodying traits such as power, nobility, honour, luck, and success.
Every animal of the Chinese Zodiac is also associated with one of the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal or water. In 2024, we welcome the year of the yang wood dragon: renowned as the most creative and visionary among dragons. They possess an optimistic, ambitious, and adventurous spirit, thriving on exploring new ideas and challenging themselves.

Embarking on a new venture, My Name Is Whisky has set its sights on crafting a limited edition collection that pays homage to the Chinese zodiac, with this year marking the auspicious Lunar Year of the Dragon. Inspired by the rich symbolism and cultural significance associated with the Chinese dragon, the project aims to blend traditions of a millennia-old culture with the convivial spirit inherent in whisky-making traditions.
By meticulously selecting a high-quality single malt, we envisioned a whisky that captures the essence of the dragon's power, nobility, and mystique: a 25-year-old Bowmore distilled in 1998.
Bowmore, the first licensed distillery on Islay, is celebrated for crafting whiskies with a unique harmony of peat, fruit, and maritime influences. Nestled in Islay's untamed beauty, amidst fierce seas and Hebridean winds, Bowmore has been perfecting single malt Scotch whisky since 1779. The legendary spirit matures in the equally legendary No.1 Vault. Here, the spirits of Bowmore slumber, absorbing the secrets of the ocean, creating a mythical saline note that defines each bottle.
Much like a legendary dragon guarding a treasure, the whisky within these walls awaits its moment to resurface. Patiently maturing in the depths of the No.1 Vault, it harbours the promise of an extraordinary revelation: a golden elixir ready to captivate your senses.

Limited to only 190 bottles, Dragon is a collector's item. Each bottle is individually numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, affirming its status as a unique spirit.
We believe that a quality whisky deserves to be presented in the finest manner possible. That's why we take great care in attending to every detail of the packaging. From the label to the flavour profile, every aspect of this limited edition reflects a profound respect for both the art of whisky-making and the cultural significance of the Chinese zodiac.
The mahogany wooden box housing the bottle is a handmade piece crafted in Italy by skilled artisans. Every detail has been carefully hand-etched onto each box, ensuring a level of craftsmanship that complements the exceptional character of the Dragon whisky within.
